"The button is cut off" is hard to fix from a sentence alone. A screenshot shows the problem, and a tap position shows which part of the screen the user meant. This guide explains how Nitpick takes a screenshot inside a SwiftUI app, what the user can do with it and what you can control.
When the screenshot is taken
Nothing is captured until the user opens the feedback panel, chooses Point at something and taps the screen. Only then does the component take a picture. The user sees it as a preview with the tap position marked, and can remove it with the Remove image button. After that only the comment is sent.
What is in the picture
The component draws the window of your own app. The tab, the pointing layer and the panel live in separate windows, so they do not appear in the picture. It is a picture of your app and nothing else: no other apps, no screen recording, no photo library. Sheets and full screen covers of your app are part of the window, so a report made on a sheet shows that sheet.
The picture is a JPEG with its longest side at most 1600 pixels. If the file is larger than 1 MB, it is encoded again at lower quality until it fits. The report also carries the size of the window in points and the pixel scale, so the screenshot and the tap position line up exactly.
Cover what must not be seen
A masked view becomes a black box in the picture. Password fields are covered where iOS allows it, and anything else sensitive is covered by you:
Text(account.iban)
.nitpickMask()
Mask payment details, addresses, health data and anything else personal. The user also sees the masked preview before sending, which is the moment to catch what you forgot.
What your agent gets
A coding agent that reads a report over MCP gets the comment and the screenshot as an image, with the tap position and the frame of the named element drawn on it. That is the difference between "the button looks wrong" and "this button, on this screen, at this size". Name your elements so the report can say which one: .nitpickElement("checkout.pay_button") in the report leads the agent to the line of code that has that name.
How long screenshots are kept
A screenshot is removed 12 months after the report was made. The report stays, and shows that it no longer has a screenshot.
